Sulzemoos, 22 November 2005 / On 19 November 2005 Phönix SonnenStrom AG was awarded a place among Europe's 500 high-growth companies. The ceremony took place in the former maritime trading exchange of Barcelona. Karl-Heinz Grasser, the Austrian Minister of Finance, and representatives of KPMG and Microsoft which sponsored the event were among the guests. Dr. Andreas Hänel, CEO of Phönix SonnenStrom AG, was there to receive the award. The selection of the companies with the highest growth from 25 European countries is published annually by "Europe's 500 Entrepreneurs for Growth".

The 500 companies selected for this award have expanded rapidly since 2001 and can boast an average annual growth rate of 14%. Despite the difficult market environment, these 500 companies have succeeded in creating 130.000 new jobs in the last three years.

Phönix SonnenStrom AG, which has its headquarters in Sulzemoos in the District of Dachau, is a specialist wholesaler of solar power systems and a market leader in the construction of large photovoltaic plants. The company was founded in 1999 and generated sales of EUR 67.2 million in the financial year 2004 with a workforce of around 70 employees. This represents an increase of 186 percent as against 2003.

Hänel commented that, “having won an award in June of this year as one of “Bayerns Best 50", a prize for high-growth companies in Bavaria, we are particularly pleased about this international award.
